END OF MOURNING follows three men from different backgrounds and the effects that a missing child has on each one of them. Set against the backdrop of the Sonoran desert on both sides of the Arizona/Mexico border, END OF MOURNING is a story of redemption, revenge and morality.
Once a deceased loved one is laid to rest, an "End of Mourning" ceremony is held at a later date to officially end the grieving of the loved one, thereby allowing them to continue on their journey to Gaahlandaay Tllgaay (Spirit Land).
Mourning is a personal and collective response which can vary depending on feelings and contexts. It starts with denial and ends with acceptance. Grief can be defined as the period following the death of someone close. This is both psychological and social:
Half mourning is the next period of mourning. Black with white trim, or white with black trim, is considered the standard for dress. Light or second mourning is the final stage of mourning. Clothing is characterized by mild colors, including black and white mixtures, greys, mauves and other soft pastel colors.
Protestant Christianity does not have a prescribed amount of time for the actual period of mourning. Since the funeral is usually held within a week of the death, that period of time from the death to the burial is considered the time of mourning. For many that is the only official time that can be set aside.
